After a long busy year, Kate's family decides to go on holidays to sunny California, leaving rainy Oregon behind. Summer is her favorite time of the year since she gets to visit her "Californian Runaways" as she calls her friendgroup there. This has a funny background, but you'll find out as you go through the pages. What's important here is: this time the group has suffered a few changes and she gets to meet new people.

And here comes the inevitable "friend of a friend" situation that makes all roads lead to Matthias, who happens to be quite peculiar in many ways. A walking contradiction, the kind of person that teaches you that to err is human no matter how careful you are.
