Brothers Patton and Virgil are the new kids in town and while Patton is as friendly as always, Virgil quickly becomes withdrawn. In a world where everyone has some kind of power, Virgil hates his because he's an empath, which means he can always feel what everyone around him is feeling.
Normally he can block it out to a degree, but the drawback is that if anyone touches him, he'll become overwhelmed by their emotions. His brother Patton has the ability to share his emotions with others, but he keeps his own drawback a secret, even from his own brother.
At the new school, neither Patton or Virgil are having a good time as Patton's so-called friends bully him, and Virgil refuses to make friends. But both their lives soon change for the better when they meet Roman and Logan.
